Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Forgot all about this. Meredith and I played this together but only got about half way through before we petered out. It was an excellent freshman effort and I hope they do a sequel!

Chrono Cross (25%)
You need to beat this! The first 75% is fluff, but the ending is absolutely incredible! I promise it makes the whole experience worthwhile.

Tales of Graces F
Tales of Xilia
Meredith and I played our first Tales games together this year, Tales of Vesperia. It was a good game. I did all of the grinding and she did the plot progression. Good times, even if the characters were a bit cliché.

Diablo 3 (PS3)
I need to get back into Diablo 3. Despite the ridiculous infrastructure issues Blizzard had at launch, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and beat it 3 times on successive difficulties. I made it 75% of the way through the game on the hardest difficulty before I finally threw in the towel.
It sounds like the real money auction house is going away in a couple months to make way for the expansion. I'll jump in a couple weeks before the expansion launches to brush up on my demon-killing skills.

Ni No Kuni is my candidate for game of the year. The game was a blast, the combat was fun and the temptation of trying to collect every monster to fight for you was something I just had to cave in to. I probably spent about 80 hours in this game, and I bet I completed 95% of the game and side quests. It has a super sad ending that is a bit on the corny side but still good. Plus the design and artwork by Studo Ghibli in this game make it worth playing by itself.
I may or may not get back into Chrono Cross, I beat it as a kid but I remember liking it a lot more than I did this time haha.
As far as the Tales games go, I'm a die hard JRPG fan so I play just about every single one I can get my hands on. Graces F was probably the worst Tales game I ever played (I literally was getting frustrated it wouldn't end), but I'd still give it a 7 out of 10. Xillia is just the opposite, probably the best of the series and a lot of people have compared it to the great Tales of Vesperia, so you mist enjoy it, give it a try (Oh and Tales of Xillia 2 is in the translation process right now, out 2014)

Ha ha I guess you're right. Metro 2033 was a sleeper surprise for me. Man, that was one of the hardest games I've played in some time.
I did have more luck with books this year so I guess that's a plus!
