Happy birthday to the Bobmobile II!  It'll turn 200,000 miles on the way home tonight.  Who wants birthday cake?!

Grats man, that has been a good vehicle for you.  Out of curiosity, how much money has it consumed over the years?

I bought it in August 2004 for $7,000 with ~109,000 miles on it.

Since October 2006 (when I started tracking all of my finances), I've spent $3,955.51 on keeping it running.  Of that, $2,486.48 went to repairs and maintenance (brakes, steering, suspension, etc.) and the rest went to incidentals like car washes, oil changes, and so forth.

All in all, I've gotten 90,000 really good miles out of it for about $11,000, which isn't too shabby if you ask me.

A lot of "small stuff" has started failing, though, some I'm saving up for the next Bobmobile.  The switch for the dashboard lights is faulty, the tape player died last week (which I used for my iPod), the AC is shot, the front suspension is acting up again, a nasty rust spot has appeared below the front passenger door, and the engine is starting to burn up oil at good clip.  As such, I've set my eyes on the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.  It's not a 5.9 (SUPER SAD FROWNY FACE), but it has a 4.7L "high output" engine that offers 265 horsepower stock.  I think I can deal with that.

Maybe I'll get the Bobmobile II all cleaned up tonight an post a picture or two!

Does it have a four-foot tall spoiler, a stick-on hood scoop, 352 stickers, and a fart cannon?

Every person in an Evo says that.  I have tried to race 4 different ones.  When one holds together long enough to make it to half track I will tell you how the race ends up...

The best was the one with 7500 miles on it that cracked the block.  I should carry a camera when I go to the track.

Hey Stick, what are your specs?  HP, torque (ha!), quarter mile?

Have you done anything with it, or is it still stock?

Since purchasing it, I've been doing more repairs than performance tweaks.  A lot of hidden problems presented themselves after purchasing so I pretty much got screwed in the deal and the guy selling it knew what he was hiding. But when I bought it, all of the performance stuff was on it.  Here's the list though.

List of things it has
Aftermarket front bumper(+10hp, +5 torque)
Lowered a few inches(+7 handling, -3 wheelies)
Boost Controller(+hp)
Stage 2 clutch(+launch power)
K&N air filter(+hp, -gas milage)
Full Greddy Exhaust(+hp, -gas milage)

I guesstimate the hp at 300 and not sure about torque but a little higher than stock I suppose. Stock 1/4 mile time is 13.4 so I guess it to be a little lower than that.

Its an '03 evo VIII in BBY color.

Those are pretty respectable numbers.

You got 10hp and 5ft/lbs of torque from a bumper swap?

Sorry I am slow.  Can you help my math?

Google says your car made 270 tq @ 3500 rpm stock and has a base weight of 3400lbs.

In 1991 my car made 290 tq @ 2000 rpm stock and at the track with me and my tools got 3102 lbs.

Granted with that all wheel drive even a trained monkey could pull a 1.7s short to my 2.1s...but where the fuck do you get 13.4 stock?!

And all kidding aside, buying a car with some balls is fun isn't it?

Not really.  My car was out of warranty 9 years and 164,000 miles ago, so it's not like I've got much riding on their success.  Even the Overland I want to buy will be well out of warranty.

I guess I would be a little upset if the Jeep brand gets deep-sixed, but I don't think that is very likely.  Then again, I wasn't expecting Pontiac to get shut down, either.  I love the Grand Cherokee series (even the ugly newer models) and would really like to seem them continue as a going concern.
