Yeah, it looks like Battle.Net is down in it's entirety. A friend of mine brought his computer over so I could install an old video card of mine, and we were playing co-op. We had just finished beating the Skeleton King and were identifying our rare/yellow items when Battle.Net went down. I sincerely hope we don't lose any (more) progress or items when it comes back up.

From the looks of it, even the Diablo 3 website is down:

Sadly its almost true. I played all day just fine. Prime time hits and I keep getting knocked to the login screen.

This wouldn't be a problem but the way the game saves checkpoints, you can often end up having to redo an ENTIRE huge section of the map to continue the story.

I think this guy is done playing at night till they fix this stuff.

The Diablo 3 servers went down again a few minutes ago with a whopping four minute warning. Apparently, this is for a "scheduled" reboot, although apparently it was only scheduled internally and they didn't bother to tell their customers.

I was able to get back in a few minutes later, but I had lost about 30 minutes of progress. Fortunately, I didn't lose any items or XP/gold, only my location in the game.

Five minutes later, I got disconnected again. Now I'm getting a "Servers are Busy" error, but I'm not sure if that's a legitimate error or a sign of an authentication server issue. You'd think Blizzard could have introduced a queuing system.

I finished up my first run of Diablo 3 last night. The final boss was crazy-nuts-hard when soloing, even with my relatively twinked character (~800DPS at level 30). After dying seven times in a row, I jumped into a group and it became an instant cake walk.

Stewie, I know you love cinema, so you need to pick this up just for the cutscenes. Blizzard is known for some amazing FMVs, but they really outdid themselves with this one.

Now, onto the second playthrough at nightmare difficulty!

I thought the difficulty was progressive... Someone said that you hit Nightmare at about lvl 30 or act 4. By the time you get to 60, you're at the hardest difficulty setting.

Stick,

The difficulty is definitely progressive. It gets more difficult throughout the playthrough, but it also gets substantially more difficult from one playthrough to the next. I'm about 30% of the way through my second playthrough, and I am already struggling when I play solo. I died two or three times before I got to the end boss in the entire first playthrough. I've died six or seven times to a single random champion pack in nightmare. It's crazy how much tougher those mobs have gotten.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am playing a "glass cannon," which is a wizard build that is balls-to-the-wall damage and absolutely no HP/resist/defense. I can tear up just about anything, but I'm incredibly squishy.
