wow bob thats insane... you haven't finished the main playthrough in morrowind and oblivion?!?  I have a few friends here at work that did the same thing. Just wandered around the world and did the random quests.

Yeah, I think I sunk about 250 hours into a single Oblivion character over the course of multiple playthroughs, and I never closed a single Oblivion gate.  For some reason, I have an incredibly difficult time working on the main quest.  I'm all about maxing my character out, and once that's done, I tend to be burnt out on the game.

I just finished the Mage quests, those were very fun. I'm hoping the Companion ones are just as good, and then the Thieves guild and Dark brotherhood are calling my name. But in between each of those ill try to do a few main questline ones. For balance...

The Mages Guild quests were fantastic, but it seemed a bit short overall.  The Thieves Guild quests were much more fulfilling this time around.  That said, the payoff for beating the Mages Guild quest series was quite a bit better.

I started the Companions quests and got part way through, but got completely distracted.  It's still on my list of things to do.  The Dark Brotherhood quests are also a priority, but they might have to wait until my next stint.

Here is some more eye candy from the game.  The first screenshot is showcasing the Enhanced Night Sky mod, and I turned off the HUD for both screenshots using the tm console command.  Since they're rather large, I'll hotlink them instead of posting the pics inline:

Yeah, I'm sorry, I didn't realize the game was spamming FaceBook quite so prolifically.  I've blocked the Saints Row traffic and nuked the posts from orbit (it's the only way to be sure).  By way of apology, here are a few screenshots of an incredibly badass game:

My character:

My favorite ride:

This mascot spawns very, very rarely within the game world.  He has a hojillion hitpoints, but if you bring him down, he drops a metric crap-ton of cash.

Here's one more shot my character wearing something a bit less... conventional.  It's not entirely safe for work, so I'll hotlink it:

Nintendo's Miyamoto stepping down, working on smaller games

REDWOOD CITY, CA—The creator of Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda will step down from his current position at Nintendo but remain with the company to work on smaller, more personal projects, Wired.com has learned.

In an exclusive interview with Wired.com on Wednesday, the 59-year-old head of Nintendo's game design department said that he will move away from supervising the development of massive games like this year's Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Super Mario 3D Land, passing the torch to the younger designers in the company and working on projects that won't take as long to complete.

"Inside our office, I've been recently declaring, 'I'm going to retire, I'm going to retire,'" Shigeru Miyamoto said through his interpreter. "I'm not saying that I'm going to retire from game development altogether. What I mean by retiring is, retiring from my current position."

Although I'm sad to see Miyamoto stepping down from the helm of Mario, Zelda, and other core titles, I hope his renewed focus on new, smaller properties will lead to new hits.  Nintendo could certainly use new properties.

I finally got around to beating Saints Row: The Third this morning.  You guys must play this game.  It's got Burt Frickin' Reynolds in it!

Seriously, the game is hilarious, and it's everything Grand Theft Auto should (still) be.

Wow, so we can all play a legal copy of the game and we don't have to worry about version issues anymore?

Done and done!

(...thanks, Stick!)

Edit:  It also comes with the manuals in PDF, including this nifty tech tree map.

I had a ton of games update on Steam tonight with no associated news releases.  I have a feeling the Christmas sale (and possibly a scavenger hunt) is going to hit next week.  The last time I saw this many games update simultaneously, it was for the summer vacation sale.
