Yeah I'm not sure why you think you need to spend 800 bucks on a console to enjoy the new age games.

I bought my Xbox 360, granted it isnt the uber Elite, for 225 bucks used and it works fine.  Aside from that I may have spent another 100 bucks on an extra controler, Xbox Live, MS points and a headset....none of which is REQUIRED to play my Xbox.  Just shit I wanted.

If you are using prices to justify your hatred of consoles you are nuts.  I spent more keeping my computer up to date enough to run new age games than I ever have on a console.

I know once I spend 300 bucks on the 360 I'll be able to play every game that ever comes out on it for 4 or 5 years.

I doubt you can say the same for your PC.

After writing that I realized we are all ganging up on Patsy.

Pat if you don't like consoles thats your choice.  It really doesn't matter to me.  Just try not to slander the console in the process Smiley

I rarely PC game anymore, but just because I don't much care for it, doesn't mean I think its crap Smiley

Ya pc gaming is down due to piracy and crappy games and it seems mmo's and online games are the only things coming in the future. Sadness.

That's the understatement of the century.  Should we try to set something up for late July or early August?

The US got the PS1 in September of 1995, and the PS2 in October of 2000.  I think 5 years is a pretty decent run for a game console, don't you?

Not when I first got my PS1 where the money was reasonable to spend.  I got it with my first paycheck from detasseling corn.

Really?  I didn't know there were any PS3/360/Wii emulators available yet.  I'd love to take a look at some of them!

I meant my computer can play the games that came out for the PC.  The point being, that I haven't had to upgrade in a while to even play the high end models.

On an unrelated side note, I also got my PlayStation from hard-earned detasseling money.  It was the first console I ever bought for myself, and it was well worth the money.

Wow, that was probably an entire week worth of earnings back then!

THQ released a new trailer for Dawn of War II today.

I got a ton of play time out of the original Dawn of War and its expansions.  They really made a new niche in RTS gaming, and each expansion was better than the last.

Hopefully, this new title will bring the same unique touches...

You know the funny thing about detasseling?

In my travels living in other areas of the country, I have yet to find anyone not from the MI, Indiana area that knows what the fuck detasseling is....

Trying to explain it to people in Colorado was amusing.  They all thought it sounded like the dumbest thing in the world, and couldn't understand why you had to pull the top of a corn stalk off lol.

Good times....

New Resident Evil 5 trailer...

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36585.html

I think it looks a bit corny, but I'm sure it is still a bit early in the development stage.  At least, I sure as heck hope that's the problem.

Here are a couple more trailers from E3.  These games are definitely going on my Must Buy list.

Dead Space

Resistance 2 - Reminds me of Cloverfield, awesome battle!

Last trailer of the day, I swear.  Of all the game trailers that have been shown at E3 so far this week, the trailer for Mirror's Edge is easily the most intriguing for me.

Mirror's Edge - Trailer
Mirror's Edge - Interview

It looks like it combines the clean beauty of Portal with the depth of Dreamfall, and manages to come up with something entirely different.  I'm really looking forward to this one.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, I worry about that same thing.  If the gameplay is off by even a little bit, that game will be the sux0r.

---

For the most part, I've now complete my collection of Sega consoles.  I bought a Sega 32X a couple months ago for my Sega Genesis, and finally picked up a Sega CD last weekend to complete the set.  By the way, I now have an extra Sega Genesis (Gen 2) in case anybody wants one.

I also bought a Sega Saturn on eBay late last week, and it finally arrived today.  Here are the two beasts side by side.

...

Here's the entire game setup as it now stands.

...

The Saturn is out front for the moment, since it doesn't fit on the shelf.  On the bottom row is the Sega Genesis/CD/32X, the Nintendo 64, and the Super Nintendo.  The second shelf contains the PS2, FCTwin (NES/SNES), and PS3.  The top row holds our DVD player, VCR, and a video selector box.  On either side of the TV is our Wii and XBox 360.

Our next console targets are the Dreamcast, TurboGrafx 16 and Sega Master systems.  I've got a bunch of old school games to buy in the mean time, so we'll see how that plays out!

I didn't know you had a 360 elite and PS3!?  I think you need a 3DO... Most people never heard of them but my cousin had one, it was an early compact disk console.
