Are you guys as excited about this as I am?  I might have to save up and buy that GTX 285 I've been drooling over when this comes out.

Sega has announced a deal to publish Aliens vs Predator 3.  You can find a handful of screenshots and a teaser video here.

I wonder if this will finally get Eric back into gaming?

Microsoft's big E3 announcement today was that another Hideo Kojima production is on the way, and it is coming to the 360!

And for the sleuths among you, here's the meta tag from the website:

Code:
<meta name="keywords" content="Hideo Kojima, MGS,METAL GEAR, NEXT, game, konami, kojima game, KJP, Kojima Production ">

With all the leaks and early hype these days, E3 rarely throws out a true surprise.  I have to say, I didn't see this one coming.  Valve has announced Left 4 Dead 2 and has released a couple of gameplay trailers.  Apparently, the next game will take place in New Orleans...

Docks Gameplay
Incendiary Ammunition
Melee Weapons

More awesome E3 trailers:

Alan Wake (Looks less cool than it used to...)
Metal Gear Solid: Rising
Halo: Reach
Front Mission Evolved

I have absolutely no interest in the Star Wars MMO, but this has to be the most bad-ass trailer I've seen in years...

Star Wars: The Old Republic

The attached video description is very true: "This cinematic is better than Episodes I-III combined."  If only Lucas could make a movie trailer that interesting!

I was also impressed with the SW:TOR trailer.  I am just wondering if it will be a sequel to KOTOR or if they're just banking off the namesake.  If it IS a sequel...I will hyperventalate, I loved those games.  There was so much to do and so many paths to take.

It's being produced by the same folks and it's set in the same timeline, so I'm sure there will be a lot of tie-in.

That said, it's yet another MMO, so it will ultimately be EverQuest with a Star Wars skin on it and a few unique features thrown in for good measure.

Anyone getting Prototype tomorrow?  I think the game looks pretty good, there hasn't been much hype.  I may wait 1 day to buy it until I check all the reviews.

Stick, did you pick up Prototype?  How is it?

I might get it on Steam this weekend.

Quote:
Bethesda Softworks parent ZeniMax Media buys id Software

In a somewhat surprise move today, Zenimax, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, has acquired id Software, famed developer of the Doom and Quake series of games. Both companies promise to maintain the status quo at id Software, with all the executives from the company signing long-term contracts to continue their roles with the studio.

“This puts id Software in a wonderful position going forward,” said John Carmack, who will continue to serve in his current role as Technical Director. “We will now be able to grow and extend all of our franchises under one roof, leveraging our capabilities across multiple teams while enabling forward looking research to be done in the service of all of them. We will be bigger and stronger, as we recruit the best talent to help us build the landmark games of the future. As trite as it may be for me to say that I am extremely pleased and excited about this deal, I am."

Zenimax is a private company, and now has Doom, Fallout, Quake, Oblivion, Rage, Wolfeinstein, and Brink in its stable of content. Robert Altman, the CEO of Zenimax, stated, "Our intention is to make sure id Software will continue to do what they do best—make AAA games. Our role will be to provide publisher support through Bethesda Softworks and give id Software the resources it needs to grow and expand.” The interesting bit? EA has already signed to publish Rage, leaving Zenimax with little to do when it comes to id's upcoming title.

While this news is surprising, both companies have sterling reputations in the gaming world, and if id had to be acquired, there were much worse places for it to go—no, we won't name names... We'll continue to follow this story and update with any new details as they emerge.

I guess I didn't see this one coming at all.  I had no idea id was on the market.  It's sad to see a stalwart lose their independence after twenty years, but they could have done worse I guess.

I got it, found it kind of boring because I really like games where you can compete online against real people.

I generally dislike games that require me to play online against other people, because those people are generally dicks.
