The reason it will outsell the Rift has nothing to do with any of what you just said.

The PSVR is designed to run with the PS4 (Albeit we don't know how well).

The Rift requires you to have a fairly decent gaming computer (which most people estimate at about 950 bucks right now) in ADDITION to the 600 for the Rift.  That's a pretty small market compared to the 40 million PS4's already sold.

Sure, but there's a big difference between "outselling" and "outperforming".  If Sony can muster even a mediocre software lineup and if they can produce the PSVR at a reasonable price, they will undoubtedly push quite a few PSVR units.  Like you said, there is a much bigger install base for the PSVR than there is for the Rift/Vive.

As an addendum, the Vive is now slated to be available for pre-order on February 29th.

Check out this awesome demonstration of photogrammetry for VR.  The room is just totally transformed and this guy is walking around checking things out.

The Tabletop Simulator for Steam is $10 today.

Would anyone else want to pick it up and maybe get the Geek Crew together online for some D&D?

I'm totally up for it.  I haven't personally tried Roll20, but everyone that uses it seems to love it.

Roll20 is a fantastic site.  Sadly, I don't own any of the newer D&D books and all my old ones have been tucked away at my Moms in Florida.....

Edit:  Changed my mind.  It might be best to skip the webcams for now and just stick with voice chat.

On a related note, I was thinking about picking up this webcam.  It has good reviews and, despite being a couple years old, seems to be a better camera than the $105 C930 that succeeded it.

After checking out Roll20.net and Fantasy Grounds, I'm really starting to lean toward Fantasy Grounds.  It has the licensed D&D 5E content available which would make DMing much, much easier.

I'm still doing some research, but it looks like I can buy an "ultimate" DM license and everyone else can connect as a player for free.  The only downside is that each person that wants to DM would have to buy a $40 license to be able to run a game.  If I DM the first few games, that shouldn't be a problem.

Just to keep things cheap for everyone, we can forego the cameras for now and stick with voice chat.  We're all going to be staring at maps and character sheets anyway, so I'm not sure it would add much.

After talking with Meredith, we thought it might be best to just buy the ultimate license so everyone else can play for free.  I'll pick it up this weekend.

I've been poring through the core rule books and I've picked a campaign that seems like it will be a lot of fun.  Fantasy Grounds has a bit of a learning curve, so I was thinking Skype or Mikogo might be a good idea for the first session.  That would allow us to share desktops so I can show everyone how the software works and assist with troubleshooting.

Are there any particular nights of the week that work out well for you guys?  Any idea who all would be interested in playing?

I might be down for this, although I currently down own a webcam (I have facetime on my Ipad for that...) but that is an easy fix.

My schedule is garbage though.

Also, the day I let you remotely control my desktop is the day hell freezes over bob lol.
