So this one snuck up on me. At the Tokyo Game Show, a video was released today for a PS4 game called Deep Down. It looks like a quasi-tactical first-person fighting game set in a high fantasy world.
Sony has uploaded a 30 minute playthrough, but there is a particularly amazing moment at roughly 24 minutes into the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p55xaGygCVU&feature=youtu.be&t=24m10s
The player casts a spell to freeze time, then moves around within the frozen world, casting additional fireballs that all launch simultaneously once the time freeze has ended. Very cool stuff!

Nvidia just posted this, thought it was pretty nifty:

I started playing Final Fantasy XII again the other day. I thoroughly enjoyed 12 and count it as one of my favorite Final Fantasy titles. It's right up there with VII and IX on my list of most-loved FF games.
I was too lazy to break out my PS2, so I decided to emulate it on my PC. I grabbed a copy of Final Fantasy XII - International Zodiac Job System, which was a special edition that was only released in Japan. You can find a copy on the Internets that already has the English patch installed and works perfectly.
The IZJS version of XII has a number of improvements including some bug fixes, better treasure chest spawn rates, and a totally revamped license board system (if you've never played XII, the license board is a set of abilities you can unlock that are arranged on something similar to a giant chess board). Instead of every character having an identical license board, you now choose a single permanent job class for each character, e.g. knight, white mage, black mage, etc. Each class has its own license board that is tweaked to that job class.
Since you probably don't care about that, here is the best part of emulation. I'm playing at my native resolution of 1680x1050 and I'm using 16x MSAA to remove the horrid jaggies that plagued PS1 and PS2-era games.
Here's what the game looks like on the PS2:
...and here's a screenshot I took last night:

If I may ask, what emulator are you using?

I'm using PCSX2 with an XBox 360 controller. I'm using the latest version of all of the standard plugins. If you'd like, I can write down all of the versions and settings I'm using.

I'm jealous. 12 is the only Final Fantasy I never played.

You're really missing out! It was an excellent game and probably had the closest thing to a "literary quality" plot of any of the Final Fantasy games. Sure, it had plenty of clichés, but it had a very epic feel. The graphics were pretty amazing at the time and the battle system remains my favorite FF combat implementation to this day.
If you've got some time to burn, grab a copy from TPB and emulate it. You won't be sorry!

(...an XBox controller is helpful, though.)

I keep hoping that someday Sony will release it as a "classic" on the PSN.
The remastered HD FFX has hyped well so I hope that means we can look forward to the 12 treatment.

Has anyone been playing Battlefield 4 lately? I picked it up in the last "sale" (sale is in quotes because Origin can barely compete with Steam in awesomenessissity).
It's fairly fun...I haven't been as crashing as most people have. I would like to see a little more battle destruction in it though.

I need to pick up a copy. I just got a copy of Battlefield 3 a couple months ago and I haven't even played it yet.
I'll be on vacation in a week, so I might pick it up next weekend!
