Is there a network card conflict? Like if the mobo has an onboard one and you have an extra in a slot? That happens sometimes on the parents computer here.

Also, I don't know Linux all that much so this might not apply, sometimes it'll set up another LAN for no reason and turn that on so it conflicts with the other connection.

Those are my ideas.

It has needed a reboot for a couple weeks now, but I never want to do it at work in case it doesn't come back up and I always forget to do it by the time I get home. If it is still sluggish, let me know and I'll give it the ol' cattle prod. That should get it moving... -b0b (...or maybe not?)
