Programmers

Any good programmers on here? might be a job here in ann arbor workin on games, military stuff, etc.

They are pretty rigorous when hiring and strict, so be warned.  Let me know. Ill delete this post in a few days or so, cause we all know I hate clutter.

Meh, don't bother deleting it.  It'll drop off the front page on its own after a couple weeks.

I don't think we've got any dyed-in-the-wool programmers here.  My programming skill is limited to WSH, ADSI, and EggDrop.  Spanky is a controls engineer and Attebizzle is an up-and-coming IT admin, so not much in the way of programming there, either.

If you hear about anyone wanting a network engineer, though, you know where to find me. Wink

Programming is a sign of the devil.

And not all of us can depend on hard drive crashes to clean out our clutter.

I think Stick does some programming, but I'm not sure how much.

Where are you Nick?

Yea, I'm pretty good at programming now.  Mostly .NET programming but WMU focuses on a lot of linux, so I do have mid ranged experience in other languages.  My current boss is pretty strict here too. Is there a link I could visit?  I have my resume all finished and I have been distributing it everywhere so I can send it to you.

btw, one of the apps I developed earned the police department I work for $40,000!  It was $20,000 for the app and $20,000 for maintenance and I haven't heard of there being any problems in about 2 months.

Dang it, Stick, why did you have to go off and be a programmer?  Everybody knows that programmers and IT/networking people never get along!

I do some IT stuff, but never networking.  You could be my sidekick though.  I'd rather not be a programmer, but instead be a software engineer or software architect or technical consultant.

hmm. well the web site wouldn't explain much. I know all the programmers at the office work on Visual studio in C. They need programmers to work on the game, write code, graphics stuff, so that might not be exactly what you need. But the other part of the company does military stuff, signal processing, etc.  How much better are you in the other languages?

If it's C, I'm ok/good.  If it's C# I'm really good, that is my strongest language. With C++ I am better than C. Visual Studio makes everything easier too, so I'm sure I could do regular C pretty good.  I will just attach my resume, it's more detailed about my strengths. Actually I just coded in Java for the first time tonight using visual studio and I was able to make a simple email client.

C# is the language of the future.  Have you done any .NET projects in C# yet?  I have to admit, the .NET integration stuff looks pretty sweet.  Microsoft really wants to create "one language to rule them all," and they've been pretty successful in getting what they want in the past.

Oh, that reminds me.  If you're ever interested in getting MCAD certified (MCSE for programmers, essentially), I've got some seriously kick-ass software to help you out with the process.  It offers a variety of videos and some pretty amazing simulators to test out different concepts with.  It also has a fairly comprehensive exam suite to simulate the actual MCAD examinations.  I got the software from a friend along with all of the networking related software (MCSE, CNA, Network+, etc).

If you want it, let me know and I'll pass it along to you.

I'll take whatever you have to offer.  I'm in extreme learning mode right now.

Yea, I've worked with C# every day of the week for the last 8 months.  The $40,000 app is C#.  ASP.NET uses C# in the background and that makes it a very flexible web technology.

CCNA?

I know I've far off from having it, but it would be nice to see what I need to know to have it.

I've got a couple gigs worth of CCNA training material.  I have several full books in PDF format for your perusal.  They are a bit of a pain to read compared with the real deal, but they'll give you an idea of what to look for when you decide to purchase one in hard copy.

I also have a bunch of test simulators and exam questions (brain dumps) from several different vendors.  For other certifications, I've found them to be the single best resource in my arsenal.

I also have a bunch of videos, simulators, tests, and other tools for A+, Network+, Security+, MCSA, MCSE, MCSD, and a bunch of others.  If you're interested in obtaining any of them, be sure to let me know.  I'll give you the hookup!

The MCAD stuff consists of six CD images, totaling about 2.4GB.  I can burn it all to a DVD for you if you'd like.  Do you want to meet me in Kalamazoo sometime to pick it up?

Here's a full list of the certification stuff I have available.  As you can see, it's heavily skewed toward CCNA stuff at the moment.
