New Toy!

Alright, this technically belongs to Meredith, but I'm going to use it more than she will, and possession is nine-tenths of the law! Meredith's stepfather sent her a beautiful 20ga shotgun for Christmas and it took me three weeks to convince her to even open the case to see what he sent her!
We both kinda forgot about the shotgun until I saw it at again at her mother's house, and I convinced her that she needed to let me bring it home so I could oil it up (which isn't entirely a lie!). I haven't had a chance to clean and oil it yet, but I thought I'd show off
my
our new toy!
It's a Remington 870 Express Magnum shotgun with a vented rib. The action is extremely smooth and the wood is beautiful. Her stepfather found a fantastic specimen!
I've already got one winter gun project in mind, which is the replacement of the wood stock on my second SKS. I'm thinking this shotgun would also look awfully sexy with a black composite stock with a pistol grip. It'd look something like this...
What do you guys think? Should I leave it in it's existing shape, or should I replace the furniture?

That looks like a 12 gauge. I wouldn't put the composite on it though.

Yeah, it's pretty much identical to it's more common brother, the 12ga Remington 870.
I think I'll hold off on the composite stock until I can buy the 12ga version.

Does it hold 6 or 12 rounds?

At the moment, it only has a 4-round magazine. Shotguns aren't known for their capacity, unfortunately.
Next time I stop by On Target, I'm going to look for a 3-round magazine extension. The "sample" tactical shotgun in the third picture has an extension on the magazine, allowing it to carry 7 rounds.

I know someone that was trying to get rid of a mossburg 500 cheapo gun with composite stock and I think the magazine tube was long. Want me to check on it?

I like the Remington 870's far more than the Mossberg 500's, but if it's got a good price tag on it, I'd be interested. Go ahead and ask!
Thanks!
