Out of curiosity, what do you guys think about the crossguard lightsaber? Lots of controversy out there.

I personally think it's kind of dumb (more likely to hurt the wielder than their opponent), but I don't doubt that people really would do dumb things if they could make their own lightsaber. Somewhat realistic from that perspective, I suppose.

The Sith seem like the kind of people who go in for appearances being important. Especially if your appearance scares the shit out of someone, Jedi or not. Also if you notice in the trailer the hilt "beam" is pretty erratic and crazy looking. Perhaps it has a secondary feature.

I mean if any of them were smart they could just slide their "blade" down and cut off the fingers of their opponents. Lightsabers are basically stand ins for broad swords or samurai swords and they all seem to have hilts for just that reason. X
