Its supposed to be a hunting rifle but we'll see how it takes a few FMJs. I'm thinking of picking up a nice scope for long range shooting because the range on it is good and the railing makes swapping scopes fast and easy. Haven't fired it yet so more information will come later.

Very nice! I've heard some great things about those rifles.
Welcome to the AR club. Watch out, they're addicting! -b0b (...is thinking about picking up a third!) |

I'm glad you've heard good things about them because one guy told me to stay away from remingtons and go with bushmaster. On target had the gun listed $200 below MSRP($1200 http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_rifles/Model_R-15_VTR.asp). The guy showed me what he thought was a great deal for optics, a Burris XTS 135mm(http://www.burrisoptics.com/xts135.html) listed at $170 and I was still able to talk them down $50. On target did me right on this one so I'm doing them a favor and giving them a good name.

Sited it in today. I was hitting 5 inch groups at 100 yards with just the red dot scope. I had one jam which was my third bullet and it really jammed hard denting and scratching the jacket really bad.
Hey bob, what's the best place to get some clips and a sling? |

I buy AR mags and accessories from the Equipment Exchange on AR15.com. You can usually get GI mags for $10-$12 and MagPul mags for $15-$18. 44Mag.com also has good prices and some great sales.

Ah, I purchased 4 Pmags directly from magpul for $14 each. Also I just got back from the Denver area shooting prairie dogs. That was some of the best shooting ever. Not to mention I had to pick up a 4.5-14x40 scope on my shorty AR. It looked a little funny but I was still able to plink them out at 300 yards. The red dot is going back on it soon.
The day I got back I went to Gander Mountain and purchased a Springfield XDM in 40 S&W. I got the one in all black to save a few bucks and also get the ultra-durable finish on the slide. |
