Title: Spanky's New Ride
Post by b0b on Apr 3rd, 2008 at 10:05pm
Hey Spanky!  Your mother gave me a decent pic of your new ride.  Do you mind if I post it?

(...my other ride is your mom.)

I bet you wish you had a 5.9!

How could you let your new baby get rained on?!

(...drools.)

Pfft, a 5.8L would be more fun...and actually fit in there.

And I bought the car to drive and rag on...not be a garage queen.

My only regret is not having a garage.  There is no way I am going to pay $3k in just labor to do my h/c/i swap.

Edit:  Almost forgot, went on a semi long trip, hit 27.6 mpg.  Take that you freaking jeep lover!

If you love your gas mileage that much, why don't you just hand in your man card right now and buy a Prius?

-b0b
(...oooooh!)

Nah, I will just stick with a car that is better than any jeep!

I still want my damned diesel ranger that can blow black smoke all over when I see a prius.

Whats wrong with a car that has a lot of mileage? I want to get the 100mpg car when that comes out.

The lame thing is those stupid hybrids they have now cost 7k more than the standard models. And the gain in gas efficiency per year does in no way come close to offsetting that 7k for many years.

Yeah, I'd love to have a 100mpg car, but there are a couple of stipulations:

  • I buy used, so it has to cost less than $10,000 and still have a lot of life left in it when I purchase it.
  • It can't be an econo-box.  If I can't get into it and back out of it comfortably, I don't want it.
  • I spend a solid 3-3.5 hours on the road when I drive to Chicago once a week, or 6-7 hours round trip.  I need AC, a decent stereo, and comfortable seats.

If anybody ever develops a car that can meet these requirements, you've got a sale!

(...doubts it will ever happen.)

Update!

14.9 @ 93

Not that fastest thing ever...but driving it at the track was a blast!

How many times did you have to run the quarter-mile to get under 15 seconds?

-b0b
(...points out that a 5.9 with a supercharger can do 12.9!)

I did 4 total...only the last one was under 15.  My first run was 15.8 because I said screw it and just dropped the clutch on street tries to have some fun and get all the spinning out of the way the first time.

Most embarassing thing about it though was being beaten by a 2006 full size cadillac 4 door.  It did have a LS7 vette motor in it with drag radials that went 12.6...but still being beaten by an old man in a caddie sucked.

(...points out you don't own a blown 5.9!)

Have you seen this yet, Spanky?

That's the 2010 Ford F-150 4.4l V8 Diesel.  340hp and 20mpg.  That's not too shabby!

Yeah saw that a while ago, still think an F-150 is a bigger truck than I need.

Now a ranger with a 3.0L diesel that makes 200hp and 310tq would rule!

...also that ranger would be $27k (pretty high for a ranger)...but that F-150 they think will be around $40k+ (high for any damned car)

Also with any luck that will have the same "feature" as the 7.3L super duties had where they throw flames out the tail pipe at higher rpms!

Speaking of the car...2008 is the 15th anniversary for the SVT Cobra.  The show at Carlisle is doing that as one of their themes this year.  What are you doing the first weekend in june bob?  (by weekend I mean thursday through sunday)
