Supreme Commander, FTW!
The game was released in Europe today and is being torrented like crazy. It won't be available in the US until Tuesday, so I think I'll give it a "test run" over the weekend. http://www.meganova.org/torrent/b8ce7fe03492c9b94397d06aaea065ead992c615/Supreme+Commander.torrent Enjoy! -b0b (...goes off to dig up some early reviews.) |

Way to be behind the times bob-o. Briney and I have had the beta for about a month now.

Well, I'm not quite sure how to respond to that. It seems to be fantastic, but my machine gets insanely bogged down after 1,000-1,500 units are put into play. I played the first map with a "zerg" strategy of building up an insanely over-defended base and mass-manufacturing units like crazy. The game slowed from "fine" to "nearly unplayable" pretty quickly, even with all of the pretty options turned down.
I've got some expensive vehicle repairs coming up, but I'll have to focus on a new motherboard, RAM, processor, and video card after that. That sucks hardcore, because I just bought a new video card (7800GS w/ 256MB) less than a year ago. Oh well, that's what I get for hanging on to AGP. -b0b (...sux0r.) |

yea i hear lagging graphics are a big problem, and the beta was doing that to me too. Kindof annoying, if you ask me, but then again the game looks good.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the sound was all screwed up, too. The music only worked intermittently (less than 5% of the time) and would pop in and out inexplicably. The sound effects were much the same way. I played anyway, but it was annoying. Considering that I have a brand spankin' new Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty, which is supposedly the neatest and l33test gaming sound card on the market, I was mildly disappointed with that aspect.
Have you guys noticed there is absolutely no sound configurability outside of volume levels? Weird. -b0b (...shrugs.) |

It could be flaky drivers. I haven't checked to see if Creative has released newer drivers yet.
