I still don't know if I'm leaving yet on the 22 or the 23.  Either way you guys have fun and plan it with what's convent for you.  I can always catch another one.

Hey I might be able to go.  I would just need a ride from somebody.  I'll be back in town Thursday night sometime, and then I don't have to be back till the 15th.

Looks like I'm leaving on Thursday so you guys have fun with your LAN and think about having a New Years one if you're up for one and don't have any other plans.  If the mains hosters (mainly Bob :-P ) can't or doesn't want to have one...I could host another board game party.

Just some thoughts.

Post by b0b on Dec 19th, 2006 at 12:06am
Heck yeah, I'm all about the New Year's LANnage!

I propose a rule - all games must be decided on by no later than the end of the day on December 25th.  That'll give us a full work week to work on downloading/cracking the games so we'll be ready to play when we arrive on Saturday the 30th.

LAN law?

Holy crap, I don't even think I remember how to play SMAC.  Unreal Tournament 2004?

Post by Stick on Dec 19th, 2006 at 9:15pm
I vote UT2004, CoD, and C&C Generals Zero Hour.  I would be down for EE although I haven't played in probably a year.

If someone can't be setup by party time, show up early to install.

But my video card sucks, I'll just be there for file sharing.

Dude, you should easily be able to cover some of the older games we're talking about, like Empire Earth.

-b0b
(...could run it on a 286.)

Alright so what's going down for our New Year LAN?

Are we taking advantage of Bob again?  Uhh I mean his apt?

I am really excited to see all of you again...it's been way too long.

Alright, guys, there's your freakin' poll.  I'd recommend choosing at least one real-time strategy game and one first-person shooter, but that's just my opinion.

-b0b
(...picked UT and C&C:GZH, FTW!)

Post by X on Dec 26th, 2006 at 5:08pm
Bob I really appreciate you hosting yet another LAN party...I'm sorry that I could never host one at my parent's place here.  We'd burn the house down if we had 4 computers on.

7 PM on Sunday ok?

Waterfront Apartments, Building 409, Apartment 12.

Just remember - "Formula 409," and the apartment is the last one in the building.  My name is on the (barely legible) door buzzer list.

Great, we've got a freakin' tie.  Will one of you guys ask FatMan to break it for us?  Otherwise, I think we should go with Call of Duty, UT2004, and C&C: Generals Zero Hour.

Call of Duty and C&C: Generals Zero Hour are already on the server.  I've got a legal copy of UT2004, so you guys will have to torrent a copy if you need it.

Stick, I can arrange to have a copy of UT2004 downloaded for you if you need it.

-b0b
(...two w00ts for good planning!)

For what it's worth, I've got Call of Duty and its expansion, United Offensive available.  I also have Call of Duty 2.  Are we sticking with the original or what?

-b0b

There I voted in hopes of breaking the tie down a bit.

I have those same CoDs as well just in case other people don't.

I think we should try CoD2 first because we've never played that one on Multi and I'd like to see what it's like with the better graphics.  However I think the original is still our favs for Multi since we've got our machine gun nest in the building level and of course Pavlov.

I have a legal copy of UT2K4 and I have all the games on the pole installed already except earth2160 which is not a contender anyway.

Yes that is my 1776 ship taking the final kill in one of the most intense Empire Earth games at a LAN.

Thanks for LAN bob!

Here is the game summary in detail.  I'd resize the images, but it's 10:00am and I really need some sleep!

It was the four of us (Stewie, Stick, Briney and I) against a medium bot, which is wickedly hard in Empire Earth.  I was closest to the bot so I got my butt handed to me right off the bat.  I withdrew into Stewie's base (thanks Stewie!) and regrouped, but since I no longer had any resource piles, I was mostly stuck with producing food and chopping trees.

That meant my epoch progression was insanely slow (over an hour longer than everyone else!) but I had a ridiculous amount of food and wood.  I eventually managed to recapture my own base and we had a four way bot-stomping good time.

Easily one of the best LAN's in years!

So when did you guys wake up on Monday?  I slept from 11:30am until 9:00pm, got up and made dinner, then curled up with a good book (Redemption of Althalus by David Eddings, which I finished) for a couple hours before going back to bed.

Best.

New Years.

Ever.
