Guns that belonged to the church? This article just turned Kent Hovind into David Koresh in the eyes of its readers. Hovind is done for. It doesn't matter how good his research is or how well spoken his arguments were, he's nothing more than a liability now. What a pity. -b0b (...can't believe it.) |

Well it's not like he hasn't been in hot water before. He was forced to file for bankrupcy, he's always taking flak that he's not a real doctor, he's very out spoken on the whole tax thing. I just don't buy everything that this article is reporting, esp the "everything we have belongs to God...not us". While that's a true Biblical perspective I think it's just getting turned around in saying "we own nothing therefore we don't have to pay taxes." Not to mention I thought this was a tax exempt organization. I don't know...this just feels off to me.

The article was crap. The statement I pointed out in my last article was a perfect example of a completely unnecessary statement that was twisted entirely out of proportion. However, regardless of the actual circumstances and Dr. Hovind's guilt or innocence, his career is finished.

Out of curiosity, what's up with this notice on Hovind's website?

If you're interested, here is a copy of the affidavit Kent Hovind filed in 2005. The first page or two are kind blathery, but his commentary on the tax laws affecting him are interesting.

That is odd b0b. Because on his videos it says that they can be reproduced with his permission. Really odd.

Let's all stop paying taxes! ya right. Nothing is certain but death and taxes.

His stuff is copyrighted just for legal purposes. However it's only if you want to enforce copyright when it matters. You can hold a copyright to say you have ownership but allow anyone to do whatever they want with your product.

I'm not sure whether or not the same concept applies to copyright, but with a trademark or patent, you must actively defend your intellectual property from infringement and/or delusion. Failure to do so is grounds for dismissal of your claim.

Hmm, I thought he had found an actual legal way to circumvent income taxes. Not sure if that article is accuratly painting the circumstances there. Well I hope it all gets worked out soon enough. Consider this movie that discusses the legality of income tax:

Yes excellent point Briney, that movie will rock, I can't wait to see it.
Also it just says he was arrested and charged, not that he was convicted. We'll see what happens. X |

Even a felony charge can be discrediting to your reputation. At the very least I think Mr. Hovind is going to have a long time coming before anyone takes his views seriously.
I think he'll probably suffer much more than that...sounds like someone had a hard on to take him down. That's a lot of serious charges...tax evasion is what 20 years? |

I found this on Kent Hovind's Blog...just thought it was time for an update. He's still traveling the country, although not out of country, and speaking.

Yeah...I've been on and off again doing research into the tax system. And I'm scared by what I'm finding. Talk about going down the rabbit hole. If you fellow geek brethern run across a torrent for America: From Freedom To Fascism, please...let me know. You all should check it out too.
