Title: Extended Forum Downtime Post by b0b on Feb 26th, 2006 at 9:04pm
I'm going to be moving to a new place toward at the end of March, so the forum will be down for an undisclosed period of time around the end of next month.
I'm not sure how long it will take to have my Intertron service relocated, but I'm hoping it'll take less than a week since it is a business circuit. I'll give more details on where and when I'm moving and how long the downtime will last as the target date looms ever closer. -b0b (...apologizes for the lack of downtime.) |

I'm not sure where I'm moving yet. My rent here is going up, and I'm not real happy with the house anymore. The carpet in the living room and the linoleum in the kitchen both need to be replaced, the gutters need to be cleaned, and this place is expensive as all heck to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The windows need to be replaced, and this place needs a bigger water heater.
I'm not absolutely certain where I'm moving yet, as I'm not sure what city I want to live in just yet. If I stay right in Three Rivers, I'm thinking about the new apartment complex that just opened last year. The place is sorta expensive, but the apartments are totally swanky. $675 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. The apartments come with a dishwasher, a jacuzzi (heck yeah!) in one of the bathrooms, washer and dryer, and a full kitchen. They're set up more like townhouses than an apartment complex, so I wouldn't have to worry too much about annoying neighbors. I'm going to check out a "model" apartment this week to see if I like it or not. When I move out, I've got a ton of furniture to get rid of, so any of you are looking for couches or desks, let me know. -b0b (...is moderately excited.) |

Wow the cost of living in TR is amazing! In detroit, 675 gets you a one bedroom studio.

If your new place was closer to k-zoo I would consider living in the other room and splitting rent. I know I have to get out of my parent's place soon.

It looks like the forum should only be down for 1-2 days, assuming everything goes as planned. Comcast is supposed to move the line on Thursday, and I'll try to get the server to my new place as soon as the line is switched.
If we're lucky, it'll only be a couple hours of downtime. If we're not lucky, a massive asteroid will hit the earth and... it might be a few days longer. -b0b (...anticipates a quick resolution.) |

The server is going down now. If you're reading this past 2:00pm on Friday, the forum is back up!
-b0b (...bye!) |

I'm back online! If you're reading this, reply!

Oops. I didn't bother to see if I could hit the site from outside. I tried this morning when I didn't see any activity, and guess what... it didn't work!
I spent a few addled minutes trying to troubleshoot my wiring, but everything looked fine. I rebooted both routers, and guess what - it started working! Weird. -b0b (...shrugs.) |
