XD .40 strapped to the hip, baybee!
What day are you guys thinking? I've got a thingamajig on Saturday evening, but that should end by 11:00pm. -b0b (...always heard the "mansion" was just a rumor.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by X on Oct 24th, 2005 at 11:27am
Nope it's real...well I should say was real before it burned down. However the servent's houses and the Underground tunnels are still there that lead to Chi-town. Do a google search and you'll find it.
|
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by Briney on Oct 24th, 2005 at 12:53pm
My googling skills must be sub par. And Al Capone had a lot of mansions. :-?

"AL CAPONE'S MANSION- There are only a few things that remain of this place. Mostly one side of foundation and a WHOLE lot of bricks. There are also two chimneys that have been left laying on their sides. The bricks are VERY neatly layed in a nice path. They are in a heap however and appear to be covering up at least ONE tunnel that is known to be at this place. It would take a BACK HOE at least to get it uncovered. There is also an UNDERGROUND room that has been completely unharmed. It has a door still and it locks from the outside. On the inside of this room (it can fit more than 18 people at one time), there is a hole directly in the middle of the ceiling, there is a shelf along one wall. There are metal hooks coming from the ceiling as well. There is also a small brick (looks similar to a chimeny or fireplace) that stretches from the floor through the ceiling, its only about 1 foot wide, with a small hole at the bottom. The floor is Dirt." |

So are we doing this? Sat night maybe?
|
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Oct 27th, 2005 at 3:38pm
I really want to go, but if we do it Saturday, it'll have to be late (which is totally fine with me). Purgatory is a huge place, do we know exactly (or approximately) where this place is at, or how long it will take to get there?
-b0b (...will stock up on hollowpoints on Friday.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by Briney on Oct 27th, 2005 at 4:19pm
How late is late? I was thinking in the spirit of things we would be going after dark anyways. As far as where, I think Patrick was looking for where exactly this place can be found.
|
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Oct 27th, 2005 at 4:25pm
How about we leave at 11:00pm? That should make it sufficiently dark and we won't have to worry about traffic nearby.
-b0b (...will have to buy batteries, too.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by X on Oct 27th, 2005 at 7:55pm
Well seeing as TR is a hugely popular and well known city I can't fine the driving directions online. However knowing a friend he says to take:
M-60 to Young Prairie Rd First road on the right is Harter Rd Then Williams Rd which is Purgatory. It's two roads and take up both sides of the road. The area is rather small so finding the buildings won't be too hard. Also, do you guys care if we go around 12AM? X |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Oct 27th, 2005 at 10:31pm
That's perfect for me. I'll probably have to drive some of the kids home after the party, so 12:00am is perfect.
-b0b (...lock and load, baby!) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by X on Oct 27th, 2005 at 11:55pm
Is it ok if we meet at your (as in Bob's) house? and then we can all car pool with one or two vehicles
I have no prob driving I just don't know exactly where it is. Other than with the directions I have. X |

I'm not sure really.
I am trying to make it back for Christmas, but I'm not sure. Even if I do, Leah is going to Tennesse (sp) to see her relative for a week around Christmas, so she wouldn't be coming. |

Now compare this picture to the one above and see if you can see the windows too.

Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by Briney on Oct 30th, 2005 at 8:20pm Bob took 2 pictures, I remember him doing it. He took one, and then he looked at the screen, saw that it wasn't good, so he used his flash for the next. We were at the entrance to a long road that prolly went to Capone's burnt mansion. We went down there, but there was a youth camp or something that was lit up so we left. But these pics are definetly wild. The second one was taken with a flash, my headlights were on, and he was in front of the car. It was pretty dusty. I thought that the thing was like a post or something but... now i dont know. ~BRiney |

Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Oct 30th, 2005 at 9:39pm
That's freaky. You should post that on some paranormal sites to see what they think about it.
-b0b (...thinks it's an optical illusion.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by X on Oct 30th, 2005 at 11:36pm
Well if you look at the "apparition" it's about the size of the fence post. Most ghost apparitions appear at their normal height. So if it IS a ghost...it's a child.
X |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by Gambit on Oct 30th, 2005 at 11:52pm
That makes it even more freaky.
Al Capone's unknown child he had locked in the underground tunnel prison. :-/ |

Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Nov 3rd, 2005 at 3:11pm
Check out the poll at the top of the page. I want to know what you guys think is in that image. Ghost, or just an optical illusion?
-b0b (...is really curious.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by X on Nov 3rd, 2005 at 7:16pm
Now being the most qualified person to talk about the paranormal since I have been studying the stuff since I was in 5th grade, I would like to offer my opinion into what the object is. I have voted that it is in fact an optical illusion. If you remember that night, it was late and the dew was decending. That means there was fog. There were also two light sources. Briney's headlights and Bob's flash. If you have a thick fog you often times capture what looks to be something more solid than the fog. As you can also see in the pic there are different gradients of fog. On the left hand side you see the fog is relatively less and on the right it is heavier. Now I will say that it being a humaniod shape and seems to be at the level of the leaves it's "standing" on is very weird. However you rarely have ghost pictures that are all white like you have here. Usually if you get a shape it is not complete and if it is it's almost always transparents. If this is not an optical illusion then it's closer to being an angel sighting which with angel sightings they rarely hide and make their pressence known on pictures only. Again I put forth that this is just the fog and you know I'm not an govt debunker because I want to believe in this stuff more than anyone. However I have to use reasonable doubt when looking at these types of pics. Just like how some people saw the devil in the smoke of the second plane hitting the WTC, we often see things we want to see or see something our eyes tend to focus on more. However, again with possibility, I could always be wrong.

Who cares about that. I feel more that trust was broken here. A practical joke doesnt last a week. Its a joke when the person knows hes been pranked on shortly after. When its dragged out a week, its just f**kin retarded. He even posted this thing on an unsolved mysteries site and sent them a link to this thread. I even had some convos with bob about it during the week and he just kept going on about it.
Har. Har. Hope you all had a good laugh. |

Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Jul 31st, 2006 at 12:18pm
I don't think there is a "Purgatory Road." Purgatory is the name of the hunting land that Capone's mansion was formerly located on.
-b0b (...could be wrong.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by spiritchats on Aug 14th, 2006 at 10:03pm
There is a Purgatory Rd, but the mansion is not on that road, it is another one that connects to it. We went there last weekend. It is within a public hunting area. I took pic's in the daylight to get a lay of the land. May go back at night. I am also looking for facts that it was really owned by Capone and any other experiences.
We are also looking for places with a lot of activity. We went to another location nearby and got some EVP's. |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Aug 14th, 2006 at 10:15pm
EVP's, you say?
If I may inquire, what is an EVP? -b0b (...is too lazy to use Google.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by X on Aug 14th, 2006 at 11:13pm
Why you don't know?!
EVPs are Electromagnetic Voice Phenomenon. It's supposedly voices of the dead communicating with the living that are heard in the lower frequency range. Many, many ghost hunters and parapsychologists use them as means to finding out who the people use to be who are haunting the spots. Some or just downright eerie. If you want examples I have a few great sites. X |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by Briney on Aug 14th, 2006 at 11:59pm
If you could show on a map or give directions as to where that pic was taken, that would be awesome. I was under the impression the mansion itself burned down a few years ago, and that the only surving landmarks was a servants quarters and a half sunken house or something like that. looking forward to more pics and descriptions.
Thanks ~BRiney |

Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by spiritchats on Aug 15th, 2006 at 11:02pm
Man, I just reread your posts and I know that the photo was touched, just thought you had actually been out there and had to make up something exciting :o So nobody went???
Yes the building that stood there was burnt down, no servants quarters, the photo is of what I believe to be a pump house, and that is partially submerged. The driveway is still there, and an under ground room, probably a fruit cellar can be entered. We may go back w a metal detector and try an excursion into a "ravine" behind where the house stood. I knew there were "others" with us, but nothing bad or clingy. I am still looking to get documents that Al owned the property and actual photos of the house. I am surprised that I have found so little info on the internet, mostly KrissyKittys articles and what you guys posted. This is the under ground room. |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by X on Aug 15th, 2006 at 11:06pm
Could you throw us some directions?
Also, next time you go you should post it with a time and place to rendezvue. Stregnth in numbers to protect us from the red eyed bigfoot and the Satan worshipers. X |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by Briney on Aug 15th, 2006 at 11:27pm
Oh we were out there, its just that, like you said, there is very little documentation on the internet about its location. I guess we should have hit a library or something like the olden days ;D.
We drove all over the game preserve out there, and one rumor said that the mansion had been on what is now a church camp's property. All in all, we pretty much got lost out there. So if you find something out that would be awesome! What was in that underground room, btw? And what kind of EVP's were you picking up? |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by b0b on Aug 16th, 2006 at 3:53pm
I'm a skeptic.
-b0b (...would love to be proven wrong, though.) |
Title: Re: Al Capone's MI. Mansion Post by spiritchats on Aug 16th, 2006 at 11:14pm
I too am skeptical.. and probably twice your age. I debunk before I believe.
The "mansion" is supposedly across from where the youth camp was. I was there in Feb. in the dark and there was a house to the left of the drive that had been burned and stables etc. on the left that there were remains of. Across the street was the "mansion". This last weekend there were no remains of the camp, or anything on the south side. It was cleaned up and said keep out w/a phone number. The pictures I took were of the the things on the North side of the street, or the mansion. It makes sense, and I guess I need to look in the local county courthouse for documents. BUT my life is busy w/ a job and 4 kids. I did email a man on the internet who has an Al Capone museum for info....maybe the name "spiritchats" scared him!! The evp's were from a nearby church. I think the underground room was a fruit cellar...BUT it did have 2 doors on it, quite strange. Thats why we will go back for more research. Where all are you guys from??? OOPS I said "guys" |
