For what it's worth, this is totally unsupported, so don't even think about trying this on a production system. Anyway, if you want to run Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) on a Server 2012 box in a lab environment, follow this easy process:
1) Right click on the installer and choose Properties.
2) In the resulting pane, select Compatibility.
3) Select the checkbox beside "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose Windows 7. Hit OK.
4) Open a command prompt as an administrator.
5) Execute the file from the command prompt with the /disableoslimit switch (e.g. C:\mseinstall.exe /disableoslimit)
Again, this is completely unsupported, so use this at your own risk.
